update...
Reading a blog of a mother of 7, I figured if she had time to blog, I certainly should have time. I know that I always think of things I want to write in teh blog. this happens mostly in the shower.
Life is very crazy around here. Work is my peaceful time most days. I really am starting to enjoy working from home more, but with Felix also working from home, its hard at times.
BIG NEWS.. Sat is our 10 year anniversary. But somehow I am not making a big deal out of it. I explained to Felix that its not a big deal, because our marriage is good. Its not like "wow I made it 10 years", but "ok, 10 years, lets keep going". On Sat he has to be in Huntsville, AL with Jack for a cubscout thing. We are celebrating next friday night when my parents come to town.
THE BIGGGEST thing since I last blogged is that we are trying to get Alyssa into a private school. This school has a hands on approach, with less emphasis on vanilla school work. They have lots of land and an hour of "meadow time" a day! Nothing is really graded. BUT getting her in is a 50/50 shot. Whereas her ADHD makes this environment perfect for her. She is just so creative!!! Her creativity causes messes and lots more work for me, but I cant knock her for it. The only thing is that they need to be independent workers for this school. What this school compares itself to is like "being in TAG every day". I just know that she would thrive here. REgular public school next year, with 25:1 ratio would just be so wrong. I have no idea what her teacher wrote on the teacher recommendation form. We have to wait until April to hear.
Then, on the other hand, is my Jack. He is socially imature, but school is just so easy for him! public school works, but our particular school, I have come to realize, may have decent test scores, but sucks. A good principal makes all the difference. Ours just cares about basics. So the other option we are thinking about, is moving to a better school district. BUT the thought of selling our home just frightens me to no end. IF we moved I would find a foreclosure so that we could remain in a decent sized house.
Spring is real busy with the usual activities. Jack has started tennis. Alyssa is fully involved in a Sat morning program of dance, voice, and acting. also, in a week, she has a skating competition. I just finally broke down and ordered new skates for her. Doing ebay for her, was just ok. I want to know that I have exactly what she needs. I got the same skates she has now, but with better blades. So right now:
Alyssa: weekday religious school, keyboarding after school, skating, d,v, and a, therapy every other week.
Jack: tennis (2 days), gymnastics, social skills class, and speech is now only once a month!!!!
In may , swim team starts.
I have not gone any summer day camp planning yet. This is so unlike me. I have several options. I thinkI am waiting for the town program to release its camps this year. With felix working out of the house, and Alyssa gone for a month, and Jack maybe gone, its hard to plan.
